Universities

Where you apply matters as much as how

There are over 160 UK higher education providers. We help you read past league tables to the things that decide your outcome: entry requirements, teaching style, city costs and graduate employment.

Understanding the landscape

Russell Group

24 research-intensive universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, Edinburgh and Manchester. Highly competitive, strong graduate outcomes, earlier deadlines for medicine and Oxbridge.

City & modern universities

Institutions such as Coventry, Northumbria and Manchester Met that combine practical, industry-linked degrees with lower entry requirements and placement years.

Specialist institutions

Conservatoires, art schools and business-focused schools where portfolios, auditions or work experience matter more than raw grades.

Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland

Four-year Scottish degrees, different fee structures and separate funding bodies — often overlooked routes with excellent value.
